TRANSPORT AT GROOT CONSTANTIA
- Grade: 4
- 3 hours
This lesson takes place at Groot Constantia, a Provincial Heritage Site. In this lesson we look at the importance of Groot Constantia, starting with the history. Then we discuss how the Farm’s distance from Cape Town affected its transport needs. The learners are taken to the old stables where they can view Groot Constantia’s collection of wagons, carts & coaches, and are shown the differences between them. We discuss who used them and what was transported by them. Lastly we visit the Homestead, where we look at old paintings of Dutch sailing ships and learn about trade by sea in the 17th Century.
Cost: R 25 per learner.
